Assessing Fire Station Location and Apparatus Needs

Berkshire Advisors conducts studies to determine the appropriate number, type, and location of fire stations in a city and what number and type of apparatus should be located at these stations to meet fire and emergency medical service needs.  While our analysis ensures compliance, as appropriate, with OSHA two-in two out requirements, our primary focus in performing this analysis is to ensure that the costs of fire protection in a community are appropriately balanced with the community's tolerance for risk.  We also consider NFPA 1710 and Insurance Service Office fire department ratings when assessing fire station location and apparatus needs; however, our primary focus is working with our local government clients to determine what level of service will best meet the community's needs.
